  截至2005年末,外币总资产612亿美元,境外分行及机构实现税前利润总额1.8亿美元。年末,各项外币存款余额291亿美元。各项外币贷款净额291亿美元。组建国际结算单证中心。全年办理国际结算业务2,928亿美元。

  数据集中工程、全功能银行系统和数据仓库三大科技项目,是工商银行搭建国际先进水平金融信息技术平台的基础。2002年10月完成的数据集中工程,是我国金融系统数据集中的开创性工程。工程完成后,全行所有经营数据集中于北京、上海两个数据中心,使业务处理效率与稳定性有了可靠保障。
  2005年,工商银行以强化客户服务和经营管理信息化为核心,实施数据集中、数据中心整合等一系列工程,推广和优化全功能银行系统,成为国内首家完成全行数据和信息处理集约化,拥有统一、标准、规范的核心业务应用平台的大型商业银行。

  四、管理规范
  1、公司治理
  中国工商银行实行统一法人授权经营的商业银行经营管理体制,总行是全行的经营管理中心、资金调度中心和领导指挥中心,拥有全行的法人财产权,对全行经营的效益性、安全性和流动性负责。全行实行"下管一级、监控两级"的管理模式,在授权和授信管理的基础上,建立了现代商业银行的风险、资金、信贷、内控和人力资源等管理体制。
  2005年通过股份制改革,公司治理结构进一步完善。依据“三会分设、三权分立、有效制约、协调发展”的原则,设立了股东大会、董事会、监事会,聘任了高级管理层。不断强化股东大会、董事会、监事会和高级管理层之间独立运作、密切配合、相互制衡、有效监督的现代商业银行公司治理机制,企业的风险管理与内部控制能力进一步加强。
  2、风险管理
  中国工商银行具有国内领先的风险控制能力。在风险管理委员会的领导下,实行包括信用风险、市场风险、操作风险、流动性风险在内, 贯穿风险识别、计量、监测、控制、处置、补偿全过程的全面风险管理。2005年风险控制的重要举措包括:
  信用风险管理。明确法人客户积极进入类、适度进入类和限制进入类行业;建立贷款大户风险监控体系和长效机制,建立重点关注客户名单和风险应急机制;促进信贷业务区域结构的战略性调整;实施有别于大客户的小企业信贷政策;实行与国际接轨的客户融资风险总量控制。针对个人客户信用风险,开发个人信贷管理系统(PCM2003系统),实现由电子系统记录流程中各岗位的操作与管理行为。建立消费信贷审批中心,制定个人客户统一授信制度和管理办法。
  流动性风险管理。引入国际通用的流动性风险计量模型,设计适合本行实际的风险计量方法和标准。
  市场风险管理。建立了贷款定价模型和利率核心指标,起草了利率风险管理暂行办法;上收了杂币小额外币存款利率权限;成立了外汇资金业务中台;年底成为银行间外汇市场做市商。
  操作风险与内部控制。2005年成立操作风险管理委员会,初步建立操作风险监测指标体系,建立操作风险管理报告制度。制定《中国工商银行内部控制规定》,编制《中国工商银行内控体系建设五年规划》;重新设计、优化公司和个人信贷等业务的运作流程;建成反洗钱电子监控系统并投入运用。

进入21世纪以来,工行境外机构的竞争发展能力有了显著提升。境外机构总资产从2000年的36亿美元增至2011年的1320亿美元,拨备后利润从3400万美元增至13亿美元,除个别当年新设机构外,其他境外机构均实现盈利,境外机构资产和利润年复合增长率达到39%左右。
资产质量稳定改善,不良资产率从2001年的4.49%降至2011年的0.19%。2011年,工行境外机构净资产收益率(ROE)平均为12.4%,回报水平超过一些欧美大银行;人均资产1.4亿元人民币,人均净利润87万元人民币,超过全行平均水平,体现出较高的经营效率。
